I'm home for the summer, interning with a newspaper. The print journalism industry has a seriously negative connotation right now, and it's not looking good for aspiring journalist. With the fall of major newspapers and the rise of grassroots journalism, people seem to think print journalism is on the way out.
Even journalists seem pessimistic about the future. It's not to say that I'm not being affected by the things I hear, or that I'm not realistic about the future but I'm still resistant to leave the industry. The internship has encouraged me to hope that I can continue with journalism if I try hard enough.
I'm know it won't be an easy ride, and I know I'll have to work my way up from the bottom, but hard work doesn't scare me. Failure does.
